"Am I Dreaming? Pinch Me!" (Week #27)

Date: May 30, 2016
Location: Rouen
Companion: Soeur Bennett

Bonjour Mes Amis,

There is absolutely no way to describe this week without saying "Am I Dreaming? Pinch Me!" But I don't think that I am dreaming! I think that it was actually just a really solid, incredible week, with God at the center of everything. He led us to places we didn't plan on going, to people we didn't plan on meeting, and He led us to say things that
we weren't planning on saying.

I don't even know where to begin so I will start with the biggest miracle of all because I won't be able to say anything else until I get this one out. Me and my frazzled mind can't handle all the stories I guess :) BUT it all started with porting... Everything always starts with porting. Something about going door to door always leads to a
good story. I guess it is because you never know what you are going to get on the other side of the door when it opens...

For example: It could be a huge aggressive dog that leads your companion to start running down the street as you yell, "Soeur Come Back! There is a man coming!" Haha poor Soeur Bennett.

But on this special occasion, we had gotten off the métro at a stop that was really really random. Looking back, I believe that it was a prompting, a little nudge from the Lord telling us that He had something bug in store for us little sister missionaries. So we found a street, and we started to ring, we started to get yelled at, we started to get a little tired. But we kept going. And we knocked on a door, and a window opened. Not even a door. A WINDOW!

And as we testified, the window opened a little more and little more, and we told this man that if we could have ten minutes of his time, we would leave. And so, because of that good ole Rouen hospitality, he agreed :) I can honestly say that this moment was better than all of my Christmas's combined. I looked at Soeur Bennett, she looked at me, and I couldn't have kept the smile off my face if I tried :) which was good! Because what a better way to share the happiest message on earth than with a smile! :)

Anyways, it is safe to say that after ten minutes, we did not want to leave. But I saw my watch, and I told him ten minutes, so I knew we had to keep our word and part ways. I told him that we were grateful for their time, and then, HE KEPT TALKING! And he wanted us to stay! Ah! So we stayed for 20 more minutes, and as we left, we were amazed by the new number written in our book and the Rendezvous that we have set for this Wednesday!

The best part is that the Elder's just set a baptismal date with this cute young woman named Elaonore who is Protestant and from Madagascar. And she always talks about how she needs more friends. And there is this woman who is a recent convert in our ward from Madagascar who was protestant! and see if you can guess where this woman is from?

If you thought Madagascar I'd give you a high five but I'm a few hours away. ;) But it is safe to say that when we found this out we were feeling beyond blessed. And the few hours of rejection we had before
seemed like seconds! and I would do it all over again for those 30 minutes! And we knew that we had followed the promptings of the Spirit. And we were led to a beautiful family who the Lord is preparing. I can't really explain the joy that came from that experience. But I don't know if there is much greater. To be in the moment, and to know that you were just led by the Spirit of the Lord, that you taught a lesson that you know was directed by the Spirit of the Lord, to a family that you know is being prepared by the same Spirit. It was an incredible experience. And I am so excited for Thierry and his wife and for whatever plan Heavenly Father has in store for them.

And looking back, I don't think it was his Rouen hopsitality, but I'd like to think that he was able to recognize two servants of the Lord. :) He is preparing people!

So as you can see, I spent all my time talking about one miracle. I got carried away. As always. But I am just so excited and I just love this work so much! I feel very very blessed this week.

I hope you all know that our Father in Heaven is aware of all of us. He directs us everywhere that we go with every decision that we make. The more and more that I think about it, the more and more I realize that if we allow it, we will never be without His guiding influence. He sent us here to test us and to let us grow, but He always promised us that we could always be under His guiding influence. I really felt that this week and i feel so blessed to have someone who loves me enough to always lead me in the right direction.

I love my companion. I absolutely love Rouen. I could spend my whole mission here. And it has taken some time, but I love France. I am a lot less homesick and a lot more attached to these people. Don't get me wrong, I am still pretty good at rocking out to "I'm Proud to be an American" at night, but I have a love for these people that probably won't ever go away.

I love all of you. Don't forget that He is aware of you and that I am always thinking of you and praying for you :)

I am having fun and I am working hard.
